Wasn't Thanos using nothing but the Power Gem when he depowered himself against Earth hero's?
no

He cut off sensory output from the gems; he didn't restrict himself to solely the PG.

JLA stomp.

Thanos would need the whole IG to be competitive with this team... it's a bit too much.

Even with it, he'd have a hard time.... would love to see it written.

😘

I just threw up in my mouth a little...

THANOS for the win... Duh...

Thanos is not beating that line up with just the power gem alone.

How do they actually put Thanos down?

Thanos has the power gem. It can't be taken away from him.
Well, that seals it.

Thanos is pretty much invincible here, and everything he does is amped to quite a large degree.

Think of what loser Thor did with the PG, and imagine what a guy who actually knows how to use it would do.

No, all Thanos did was cut-off the extra senses the Infinity Gauntlet gave him. He still had it's full power otherwise, and used them. And this JLA line-up>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the Earth team Thanos faced in INFINITY GAUNTLET.
No, he depowered himself. Stated on panel. Feel the burn, peck.

I agree, from memory Im pretty sure Thanos cut off all the other gems and used just the Power Gem to defeat the heroes. Of course this grouping of heroes is more powerful and impressive than the ones from IG.

I thought this as well.

No he just shut off omniscience. This why they almost surprised him by having SS fly and make a go for the gauntlet. He still had all of his other powers except the power to know everything. He knew what they were going to do before they did it and so turned it off to give himself a better challenge.

Eh, I havent read it in a while, but I remember it different.

Keeping in mind, Im not sure Thanos with the Power Gem alone is the same thing as Thanos with the IG but using only the Power Gems abilities. I got the impression once combined, the IG augmented all of the gems powers by ALOT (otherwise the watch would simply be another form of the IG, and that wasnt the case)

It was somewhat vague, but Mephisto manipulated him into reducing his power to fight the heroes. But he said he only cut off the sensory input from the mind, soul, space, time, reality gems so he wouldn't know their every move. He had no omniscience but said he still retained limitless power - and he did demonstrate abilities that the power gem alone wouldn't really provide.

Thanos was putting on more of a show than anything in that fight with the power gem. He wanted to impress Lady Death. He was "affected" from anything ranging from Masterson Thor to Spiderman. And even after Thor had him down he instantly turned him to glass with a smile on his face. He was never in any real danger and could have done that to any of them at any given time. The 0.05% chance of loss he gave himself probably stemmed only from a removal of the gauntlet. Which Surfer failed at.

Thanos doesn't need the power gem to win this.

Batman solos this... one day is all Batman needs to ask Adam Warlock and others to how they defeated Thanos and then Batman takes care of business
