Being a creator doesnt necessarily make you greater than your creation. Dormammu may have created Satannish but that doesnt mean Dormammu could beat him.
Look at Galactus Vs Tyrant
Or the human scientists that created Adam Warlock.
It CAN be the case, but it cant be assumed to be as standard.

The first one(the original fight) is more impressive considering Dormammu was essentially referenced in those panels as being nothing compared to Eternity . It seemed like Eternity's victory was sure-shot . Yet Dorms still managed to pull his act together and go all out , resulting in both him and Eternity getting destroyed(it was revealed later that Dorms got BFR'ed to another dimension).
Somewhat similar to a honey badger beating a lion .
