I think I've traced the root of the Church of Rand.. Basically, it's all Christopher Priests fault.
Before Priest, you had most prominently Claremont, who wrote a pretty powerful Rand, but who could only give Luke Cage a good fight. Even with his Iron Fist, he could not knock Cage out.
Then Priest came along, and in his very, very short run, he gives us this:
Knocks out Bres. That muscle guy is Super Skrull, btw, who Bres is manhandling. Also, Bres did all of this:
So Priest has Danny straight up KO a guy Thor and She Hulk working together beat using weakness exploitation. O_o
Three issues later, Priest unravels Claremonts take on Iron Fist vs Power Man:
I know everyones seen this scan, though. But still, that's two BIG feats for Danny in a short time under Priest.
And here's the third big one:
Besides Danny beating on a friggan dragon, Cage can't even knock him out with a sucker punch to the back of the head. Oh, and that dragon also beat THE DEFENDERS.. O_O
I love Iron Fist, and I love Priest, but sometimes Priest is almost on par with Ennis when it comes to downplaying characters, imo...
Ironically, even though Priest laid the ground work for the modern Iron Fist, he also killed Iron Fist off at the end of his run. Byrne would later revive him, and Danny would go to one mediocre run after another, with a nice moment or two like KOing a drunk Herc, but basically being a mid tier overlooked character, until the awesome Iron Fist series by Brubaker and Fraction, which many see as the official coming out party for The Fist into the big leagues. But personally, I credit Priest, not only because of his original work that established Danny's really friggan powerful, but also this more recent story that's been passed around the web since forever:

Annd, that's ALL of Priest work on Black Panther. Almost a "Greatest Hits", ain't it? All you need is the Helicarrier KO and the train scene, and that's basically the most popular IF scans that gets tossed around.
IMO, if it wasn't for Priest, Brubaker and Fraction's series never would have happened, and the stuff that came later like New Avengers never would have happened, and Danny would have been remembered as a mid tier Bruce Lee ripoff with a magic fist..
Anyways, before getting accused of derailing this thread, I think the scans I've posted are also a good argument, in and of themselves, as to why Danny wins this fight..

Wolverine can tank Hulk level blows. He's been doing it for close to four decades. Maybe if you start reading comics instead of regurgitating scans from respect threads, you'd actually become knowledgeable to post here without looking like a joke.
