Arrow

Arrow just threw their hat in the "retool for diversity!" arena.

Ollie quit for the sake of his kid, and drafter Diggle as the new Arrow.

Well, from a narrative aspect, it would have made sense before, seeing as he is Oliver's most trusted friend, and someone who has put on the GA suit before. However, as things stand, it is dumb as f***, and Diggle is an a**hat. He should have immediately told Oliver about his shoulder and how he already nearly got Rene and Dinah killed. But nope. Seriously, what is it with CW characters and keeping important secrets from their closest allies?

Not to mention, when did he learn how to use a bow.

Playing Ollie for one specific con is one thing, but eventually everyones gonna notice Green Arrow isn't shooting any arrows.

Well, he did actually use Ollie's bow pretty accurately in S1, IIRC, without any explanation as to how or when he learned to do so. However, given that he can't even use a gun right now, there is no way in hell he is accurately shooting a bow.

A big problem, that I'm sure will be solved with a cheap plot device.

Say, T-sphere tech in arrows, so they're essentially self targeting.

Speaking of that, why didn't Diggle just ask Curtis for help? The guy already invented a piece of tech that cured Felicity's paralysis. Or the people at Star Labs. Surely, Cisco and Caitlin could figure out a workaround.

Also, a lot of the fight sequences in the first two eps have been kind of lazy. The fights against fodder basically involve Team Arrow members tossing/flipping/shoving guys to the ground for a KO. And it's not even like a lot of them are particularly hard impacts either. They get put on their back once (many of them don't even take a single hit before this happens) and that's it. Seriously, I have seen people take harder hits when falling out of bed without being knocked out.

I think, especially after this last episode, that Diggle as the Green Arrow will be temporary. The crossbow suits him though admittedly but people should also start suspecting why the GA went from a regular bow to a crossbow.

Diggle with the back alley mutagen dealer does seem to lay the groundwork for Ollie's return.

Although you can argue the same for Jane Foster having cancer. Both solid exit strategies that can be played out for a long time.

I think the whole, it shoots arrows not bolts is a way to be like oh look he's using arrows it's really the GA.

Diggle being temporary's was never in doubt. Its jyst a story arc.

All will be normal well before this season's crossover event.

because no one will notice that he's not shooting the arrows from a bow like he has been for the last 5 years.

Well, nobody is ever really there. And if they are full of arrow holes they won't notice except maybe the villains, but who are they going to tell.

cameras, police officers present during a field mission, bystanders, criminals who get away before being killed or apprehended... not to mention the detective investigating him who for some reason has a hard-on for uncovering his secret identity.

there are many ways he could be caught not using a bow.

Yeah.

Only thing this does is give Ollie plausible deniability. Everyone may know it's a con, but who's going to prove it?

sassy black detective, that's who.

but given this show's track record, she'll likely end up in a situation where she's about to be killed, but either Diggle or Oliver saves her life, prompting her to drop the investigation... or she'll just find out the truth, then die immediately.

One episode, and I am already more invested in

Spoiler:
Slade's
side story than I am in the main season plot.

Makes up for the latest Flash episode at least...

Still been enjoying the season so far apart from the current direction with Oliver, so I’m willing to give it the benefit of a doubt, after how much I enjoyed the last season which was on par with S1 and 2 IMO.

I just feel like the main plot (at least so far) is something that has been overdone a bit. The secret identity investigation thing is hardly a new concept, and is something that's even been done on this show before. So, it hasn't really hooked me.

On a random note, poor Green Arrow. Other heroes, like the Flash, are idolised by the masses. Even have drinks named after them. In contrast, the Green Arrow is constantly treated like a menace.

That whole sequence was excellent, tbh.
