The following battlezone is hearby underway! We shall see Digi face off against Damborgson in a contest to see which of them is truly worthy to possess represent the power of THOR!

10 seconds of prep doesn't sound really like it'd be much to work with, and Thor isn't typically known for his prep tactics, but the prep will play an important role in this battle. 10 seconds of prep will be more than enough to call the storm to his command against the usurper.

From that point, Thor can call real power to the playing field the moment the battle commences with but a spin of Mjolnir.

The power that Thor can place behind his storms is ridiculous. With but a few spins of Mjolnir, he conjured enough force to devastate the attacking army on Asgard, and more impressively, damage the Earth while having summoned the storm all the way in Asgard.
Possibly even going up a notch from that is the ease in which Thor summons the winds of a 1,000 worlds against the entirety of a pantheon of gods know as Glory. Compared to Zeus with all the other Olympians fused with him.

Thor proceeds to fly out of Glory with the storm raging inside. Causing it pain. It'd be a simple task for Thor to catch the Usurper with the the prepped raging storm then blitz him with the power to harm a high skyfather before any real defense can be put up. To give more of an idea of Glory's power :
"The thing that makes Glory so interesting (to me, at least) is the fact that he's not one single god: he's the embodiment of an entire pantheon. Imagine if all the gods of Olympus were one being, contained within the body of Zeus, and you'll get some sense of just how formidable Glory is. Something that tends to handicap Thor in his battles is that Thor holds back massively when on Earth or against mortals typically.With the raw power at his disposal he really has to, to avoid breaking things or breaking people.

THE HAMMER TOSS
The savage storm Thor will unleash from the get go will play a very large part in insuring the win for Thor. He's got more than one way to take advantage of it of course. Forget that the storm itself is something an immediate defense will be needed for, a hammer toss in the confusion is a very real threat.

Even with the massive recent disprespect Thor has been getting recently, his power against those who outrank him in power isn't forgotten, as he demonstrates here against the Phoenix Force.
Thor scores a flash KO against the Phoenix Force as confirmed by the writer.
"Here we've got a pretty epic confrontation between Thor and the Phoenix. What exactly happens in this scene. Does Thor hit the Phoenix so hard that it needs to stop and refuel?"
"Yeah, the idea was here's was basically Phoenix versus a god, which, you know, seems like a fair fight. So Thor went and smacked the Phoenix so hard that he knocked the bird out. [Laughs]"

Thor throws Mjolnir to the end of the galaxy and it returns in less than 60 seconds. Speed that makes light look like molasses. There is no avoiding it.

Mjolnir while travling can warp the space around it. Resulting in it going through forcefields. Thor typically chooses not to use this, but in a contest against this Usurper he very much would.

BRING THE LIGHTNING!Of course Thor has more to his offensive power than hammer throws, storms, and bull rushing. Thor is the Lord of Lighting after all.
Anyone would be hard pressed to find herald level attacks with he depth and magnitude of power and versatility that Thor's lighting has.

Those top scans were kiddie showings, meant to show the versatility in Thor's lightning. Lets move on to why Thor is called "Mighty".
Thor's lightning blows open the Sentry

First off, that was void possessed sentry who is in another level to regular sentry.
Just compare how Standard Sentry and "Voidtry" respectively deal with hammer shots:

Thor had to put a lot of power in that lightning to harm voidtry the way he did. And he did harm him.
Sentry during this time was giving over the void. As the Sentry's body was damaged, the void would come out of the wound. Ares managed to get a stab on Sentry before being killed, out of which came a void tendril. The more Sentry's body was hurt, the more of the void that came out. Thor blew the Sentry back open, resulting in the tendrils crawling out of the sentry's back. Now if you read what Thor says "I must smite you down with all the power at my command!" Heh funny Joke. Truth is it wasn't even close to being "all the power at this command". As we see here:

There have been plenty "full power lighting strikes" by Thor but fact is Thor just keeps topping them. There really has been no "limit" to what he has accomplished with them. What does this mean?

There was a time, where Thor was actually fueled by lightning instead of harmed by it. That would indeed change the nature of this debate. Sadly, time has passed and that part of his powerset has been all but forgotten:

I didn't really delve into any sort of defense for Thor in either post, so much as brutal overwhelming offense. In the case where our two champions have identical power sets, this battle will be determined by who uses his power the best. I've explained why my Thor (the true Thor) will suceed. There is no defense for a Thor who wants to get you except to fly like hell. And seeing as how Thor can teleport anywhere in the universe he chooses even that will be a temporary solution at best. The best defense is a good offense, and that's why Thor will emerge victorious 😎
That's all I've got to say. Thanks Digi for being cool doing a Thor vs Thor match lol. You're a really cool guy and mod, and I hope to do something similar like this again sometime since well...Thor's basically the only character I can really feel at home debating with.

Digi Post #1So ok, weird battle. We’re both using Thor, and neither of us gets rebuttal posts. How to approach this?
Two ways. One will be with trickery, in an attempt to outsmart the other Thor using his various powers. The second will be to show how my Thor will fight harder and remember the best of himself if the trickery fails (I have no idea if it will or not, since I don’t know Damborgson’s plans).
A quick note: we’re using the same Thor. Same physical attributes and capabilities. But HOW our Thor approaches the fight is up to us. That will determine the entire battle.
So ok, the battle starts, and I immediately…summon HIS Mjolnir to me:

Same hammer, same character, same rules. Cheap? Sure. But there’s no reason he can’t do this.Simultaneously, I throw my Mjolnir in a faster than lightspeed hurl, and create a bubble around his Thor that blocks magical input. Here’s the famous scene against Juggernaut that I’m referencing:

Then, blast him with lightning to weaken the hell out of him and/or kill him. Without Mjolnir, he cannot absorb it. I am simultaneously casting lightning on myself to absorb into the Mjolnir that my Thor is holding. This will charge the **** out of it.
Once weakened (if he isn’t dead already), or if he figures a way to elude my trap, I’ll send the magic-bubble Mjolnir hurtling toward him in a feint, while I fly into melee range. Once there, I give him one of these numbers with all the stored lightning:

…making sure I’m close enough that he can’t absorb the blast, but takes the full force of the stored energy in Mjolnir.And to clarify, Thor’s been hurt by his own lightning, stupidly enough. Minus Mjolnir, or at point-blank range, it’s a viable tactic.
So, if Damborgson does something freaky to negate a lot of this, and we’re in a brawl, flip a coin and pick one of us to win. But if he tries to invoke weather powers, I’m going to negate them. And if he does pretty much anything else, I think my opening tactics do a lot to beat him.

Digi Post #2Here’s where I’m going to dip into the scans well a little bit. I doubt I have any scans that Damborgson doesn’t have (though maybe one or two), but I’d like to show you that my Thor is fighting just a little bit smarter or better.
I’m not going to unload my entire collection on you. That’s what respect threads are for. I don’t think it’s relevant to show every last bit of strength or skill. Both Thors are fighting hard and well – it’s the nuanced stuff that will determine the fight, not the broad, general powers.
Anyway…
If his Thor does any absorbing and redirecting of energy, I’ll be doing the same. But my Thor will be returning the energy x100:

Thor has often – very often – forgotten this or failed to invoke that power, so if Damborgson is not doing the same, most energy attacks will sneak through and hurt him, Mjolnir or not.When I use lightning, it is Ego-busting lightning:

Simple plan, nowhere near my limit for scans or words in my posts. But again, the weather powers, brawling, speed, etc. are a complete draw. I’ve highlighted only what I think will help me edge out Damborgson’s Thor.
And if, after everything, all this still fails, I…put him in a Universal Infinity Vortex? Yeah, that.

ha! kind of a cool idea. gotta go with digi here though. the calling of the other hammer is a great idea. the other thor may well counter it and it would turn into a battle of wills, but digi doesn't let this happen (or matter if it does since he's already ready with his own hammer toss.) in a battle of utter equals, any move that gives even a temp advantage is enough imo to tip the scales. well played digi. 😉

Yeah, limited posts helps, but this was more because it would become silly to have a bunch of rebuttals with the exact same character. Still, I could see limits of 5 posts or so (1 writeup + 4 rebuttals) working well in this format.

If this kind of format is more enjoyable and easier for people with busier schedules, we could probably host a lot more tournaments if we have the limited posts kind of deal. If that draws in more participation, it's definitely something to look into.
