Did Anakin have to turn to the Dark Side for the Prophecy to be fufilled?

Did Anakin have to turn to the Dark side in order for the Prophecy to be fufilled? We know Anakin was the one to bring balance to the force even though he turned to the Dark Side. When he went in to save his son Luke against the Sith because of that the Sith died... but if Anakin never became Darth Vader would he still have been able to complete the prophecy ?? Just a radom "What IF Question"

No. He didn't have to turn to the darkside for the prophecy to be fullfilled. That's just the way it happened.

the prophecy only said that anakin would bring balance to the force. every occurrence outside that is inconsequential.

in other words, anakin could have spent all those years in drag, pole dancing in jabba's palace and then went off to destroy the sith and the prophecy would have been fulfilled.
