To prideful to accept the suggestion of Reed that there could be things wrong about a invention of his, and blames most of his woes on Mr.Fantastic.
He can't accept that Mr.Fantastic could be as smart as him so he must continue to fight him and the other three members of the Fantastic Four to prove he's smarter than him.
