He's right you know.
KC Captain marvel was not a treat to Kal. Throughout there fight, Kal was trying to reason with Billy.
Kal had been fighting far longer before Billy and him went at it. The most physical evidence Billy showed that he hurt Kal was to have his ears bleed.
Throughout all that, what happen when Kal decided to take Billy serious? With a burst of speed he clasped Billy's mouth, and if he wanted too, he could have just beat Billy into submission.
Even when a nuked dropped on him, with no protection it did nothing to hurt Kal, all it did was to piss him off.

Concerning Kal or Billy?
Looking at there fight, though it was a good battle depiction wise, but bad execution wise.
Kal never struggled, Billy didn't even exhaust him, he did nothing but held back because he wanted to save Billy's life. In the end when they launched the Nuke that wipe out most of both sides, they believed it was powerful enough that it would kill Kal. It did nothing to him.
Plus this Kal also has canon feats when he manhandle main Earth Hercules, when current Superman couldn't.

Sentry survived a nuke unscathed too though.

This is a completely inaccurate re-telling.
About the nuke as well, the only reason there were survivors as is was because, as Wonder Woman said, Captain Marvel detonated the nuke well above where the intended Ground Zero was.
KC Superman never, ever, felt the actual blast like KC CM did. He was simply on the ground where the residual energy would have been thousands upon thousands of times less.

Shazam 1 : Billy form
Shazam 2 : Captain Marvel form
Shazam 3 : Billy form
Nuke goes off.
I also found it interesting that even though KC Superman had a head start racing toward the nuke, Captain Marvel caught up to him, flung him away from the nuke, and destroyed it before KC Superman could really do anything.
