Does the length of time really matter?I mean, yes, we saw what a few minutes did. And we saw what 870,000 years (or whatever) mayyyybe does (alternate future etc). So are we taking it linearly?
The Kryptonite X story had him absorbing more energy then he could burn off. The amping was gradual, over days or weeks, but he reached a point where he tried touching Bizarro Superman just to get his attention, and sent him flying back like he delivered his best haymaker. And he wasn't anywhere close to finished powering up in the story.
A sindip is like taking the trickle of constant power from that arc, and putting him at the bottom of Niagara Falls, power stream wise.
The problem with the sundip is that it's hard to quantify just how massive the boost it gives him is. Look at OWAW. Even before the sundip he was operating at very, very high herald and was almost untouchable.
Then he goes and, after a small sundip, is able to breach defences that he, captains marvel and atom couldn't before.
The KX story is a valid one, but it is before some upgrading was done to Superman, so it's not going to have as much validity as say OWAW.

That's funny. The Destroyer withstood a blast from the composite being of the Dark Gods without a scratch. Superman doesn't stand a chance against the armor, sundip or not. It's way too durable and too powerful.
Superman doesn't become Galactus everytime he takes a trip to the sun. 🙄
