How is he going to do that? in-fact, when has surfer ever done that?

if you're referring to the Cable vs Surfer fight( which has been debunked) surfer didn't remove his abilities, Cable burnt out, that's why he lost...

If anything, Nate has the history of denying/ turning off the powers of others

btw, i highly doubt any of that would be used in a simple game of chess.
