Proposed US loyalty oath for students could be another image headache for Arizona

A group of Republican lawmakers want to require Arizona students to recite a loyalty oath to the U.S. and its Constitution before they can graduate high school. They are sponsoring House Bill 2467 in the Legislature. If passed, it would make the loyalty oath a prerequisite for graduation from any public high school in Arizona starting with the 2013-14 school year.
Students would be required to say:

I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose or evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; so help me God. -end snip

What...

I guess I can understand the notion behind it but it comes off as just silly to me. The idea that those students can not graduate until they recite it is absurd to me.

No, there's no hope for me: I'm a Mormon. I'm too far gone. Save yourself while you can! Get out, now, while the getting is good!

Let's see. Mormon rolemodels...

...Manti Te'o--overrated tackler who's either an Armstrong-level pathological liar or the biggest idiot in the world.

Mitt Romney--failed presidential candidate and spitter of gaffes.

Yeah, you're right.

Yeah, you're right.

You're forgetting Jesus Christ who we think is just as Mormon as we are. 😄

And Joseph Smith who is either an idiot and a swindler or an idiot and a real prophet of God (not kidding, here...he's an idiot, regardless of the outcome and Mormons recognize this. Even Joseph Smith admitted to this on multiple occasions).

We should get back on topic or Ushgarak will beat the shit out of us.

There are lots of Mormons in Arizona: do you think they have anything to do with this legislation being pushed? I don't know very many Arizonian Mormons so I honestly don't know their attitudes or how much they push for this kind of legislation.

Nice

I still think the Oath is kind of ridiculous.
