Considering he was only around the age Kenobi was in ROTS, we can reasonably assume his force powers had probably increased over the next 15 years.

Even the early ones might be a challenge one-on-one after being aided by Battle Meditation by Oppo Rancisis and Yoda.

I don't see why they didn't take the entire High Council with them at least if they knew this was such a serious threat. Don't know if that would have been close to enough though.
