1. "Obviously" isn't spelled that way.
2. Doesn't matter which Iron Man or doesn't matter which Superman?
For it's worth pointing out that the Extremis armor Iron Man was wearing a relatively short while ago was quite similar to the nanotech that defeated Superman AND his cousin Kara in Superman issues 2-6 last year.
Specify that this is Extremis Iron Man and Tony has a chance, even knowing nothing at all about Clark.
If Tony is granted the knowledge that yellow sunlight powers Superman and that red sunlight weakens him, odds start to close near 50/50.
If Tony is given that knowledge and even a little bit of prep time, Extremis armor or no, the odds shift in his favor.

Unless Tony pulls some big shit out of his ass, prep is not helping.

thanks for enlightening me, buddy
neither one matters. the only version of SM that would defintely lose to IM is that original golden age incarnation that didnt even fly.

orly?

by nanotech that beat SM, are you talking about that thing that was constantly rebuilding a planet with all its multicellular living organisms on it? is that it? IM's tech is on par with that?
knowledge of SM's yellow/red sunlight thing huh? please spell the scenario out for me
a little prep. I see. how long does IM need to prep for so he can beat SM 6/10?
I'm not sure you're aware of what Tony with a little bit of knowledge and prep time has been able to accomplish.
Try to imagine a fight more one-sided AGAINST Tony, conceptually, than the following, and watch how well Tony actually acquits himself:

How long did he need against Magneto here?
Blocking access to sunlight would require far less tech innovation than the following took:

That's quite true, but notice that Magneto had to tap into MORE power in order to reverse the battle against Tony, as well as take out his tech FIRST.
He didn't deal with Tony conventionally.
And Superman assaulted by red sunlight or with his access to yellow sun cut off wouldn't have the same recourse. He'd be getting weaker, not stronger.
@bluwaterider
true, but SM has superspeed and a reasonable degree of tolerance to red starlight (assuming he couldnt briefly leave the battlefield to sunamp), which imo would still grant him the edge, specially considering the initial gap in their durabilities. besides, there is the matter of just how much prep IM would need to exploit those weaknesses successfully. I suppose tony at his best does have a chance, but he still wouldnt take a majority.

This is a fair and reasonable answer.
I suppose I have no major disagreement with it, since I cannot know at the moment what the original poster had in mind.
I will say that Tony at his best often performs phenomenally well against major opposition, but the best showings DO require various degrees of prep. I think the showing against Magneto is the model of how Tony would probably fare against DCnU Superman if they ever met, especially if in his Extremis Armor, which was, for a very long time, his standard.
For, from my understanding, Extremis gives him control over satellites and other nearby machinery akin to what he demonstrated against Magneto, and almost at whim.
Which translates into virtually no prep time necessary regardless of where these 2 battle.
As for Superman sunamping ...
Well, I'm a firm believer in allowing anything reasonable to the demonstrated character of people in "real-world" battles of this type.
DCnU Superman demonstrates a more tactical thinking mind, overall, than his predeccessor. If he realized he was being drained and still had presence of mind and ability, he might well run away from battle as you suggest in the hopes of solar re-charging and then come back with a plan to shut Tony down.
If he doesn't think of that response, I say Iron Man 6/10.
If he does think of that response, it becomes a case of whether he can retreat and comeback, and I say Superman 6/10 in that case, for he is fairly durable and faster than what Tony normally encounters.

Who wins?
Research a bit on Iron Man.
His strength at his best is in creating or adapting suits to opponents he has some knowledge of.
Would that I knew how he created the armor in THIS engagment, though ...
