the fact that Thanos dips when Gladiator comes back makes little sense.
the Fact that He doesn't wanna fight, Gladiator at the same time as BRB, Ronan and Quasar (and what would have turned out to be the surfer too) I have absolutely no problem with, but when all the others are down He should have just waited for Gladiator to get back and kick his but too 😛
He has no reason to stand around and wait to fight Gladiator. He wanted to return to see Death not waste time
And also given what he says he knew Adam Warlock had been changed ("You're not my Adam Warlock", and later about him being much more powerful and a threat) and given how quickly Adam was to try and fight him moments later he probably didn't trust Warlock at his side when Gladiator returned. The Adam Warlock in the fight agaisnt BRB, Ronan, Quasar and Surfer is not the same as in the panel where he mentions Gladiator returning and Thanos knows it.
Yeah honestly he shouldn't have to worry about a guy like gladiator with the way he was able to toss around BRB and considering gladiator is on the same level it shouldn't be a worry for Thanos, however we see Thanos isn't one for senseless fighting. I don't think it should be assumed he was scared or anything, more he just didn't feel like putting up the extra effort for a fight when there is really no need and he gains nothing from it. Plus even if Gladiator showed up and he decided to leave and not fight, gladiator can fly faster than light so now not only would he have to avoid the fight but avoid a guy who could follow him damn near anywhere he wants to leave too possibly.
