They are based on gods of Japanese mythology.

Amatsu-Mikaboshi = God of darkness
Amaterasu = Goddess of the sun

The god of darkness guy was a bad ass even before he became the chaos king. He had the tendrils or whatever that not even the lightning from zues could hurt.

Like he did to Ares, amirite? Mordru beat Thunderbolt and overpowered Nabu in a weakened state. He would tear mikaboshi apart.

CK would be too much, IMO. Mordru's best feats are above Amatsu, though. Able to absorb half of Infinite Man's power for one and owning a Thunderbolt. Not to mention SHAZAM in the ROE.
