The moonbase he ate was organic. And he tried to eat both Spyke, and Daniel. Both being humans.

The both moonbases were about as organic as Unicron and Cybertron. They were cybertronian moons.

Spike was accidental, and was in a transforming exosuit as was Daniel who crashed in through the eye in the Quintesson ship with all the other Autobots with him.. And they both survived too. Undigested.

And considering how thoroughly he scanned what would become Galvatron, Cyclonus, and the Sweeps. He'd be able to tell the difference between a human and a former.

Didn't Unicron have robot antibodies? Been a while since I watched that movie. But if my memory is correct, then McClane is torn apart by the robots living inside unicron.
