@ TheVaultDwellerYeah, I knew it was coming but I was hoping it wouldn't be until later. My sister got me into it because she is fascinated by vikings and their history, so fortunately I didn't know too many specifics and now I try to avoid reading about what happened until after they show it in the series, to try and avoid spoiling it for myself.
Fair enough. I am a bit of a history nerd myself, so I already knew most of the story before I even started watching the show. In terms of historical events, I have a pretty good general idea of what Ivar, Bjorn and all the rest are supposed to be getting up to in events to come, but I still like watching the show to see how they choose to portray it.
The good thing of Viking history, at least for the show's sake, is that a lot of the records from that time are mostly sagas, poems etc. (and some directly contradict others), so they still have some wiggle room for interpretation with some events/characters. For example, what I mentioned about Ælla is only one of the interpretations of what happened. The Saxon and Scandinavian sagas have differences with regards to his own part in the story. So, they might not follow the direction I expect.
