That would be because back then even when arguing against known fanboys (BT, ol carv) it was still enjoyable. It would only be about the feats, and only relevant feats somewhat backed by credible sources. The Goku vs DS thread comes to mind, with carv teaching me a thing or two about some DBZ feats and me ending up convincing him that Goku loses. A good thread.
But for the last 2 years these fanboys have been blatantly ignoring feafeats and arguments to just say someone wins (defeating the purpose), using feeble evidence to back up poorly judged feats, even feats that don't even exist. That and a third of it is just petty, childish bashing. Can't really tell the difference between crazed fans and trolls these days.
Maybe I'm just failing to see the point when they won't put in effort and be open to change/a discussion. /Shrugs

You are using two different Novas (Same guy but showed different levels of Power because Nova RARELY is able to use his full power)
Planet Busting Blast also hurt sentry and Do not affect most DBZ characters as shown with Friezas death ball and trunks being unharmed. Sentry is large planet to multi planet. (With the exception of a few feats)

7,926.41 miles is the Diameter of Earth, namek is 10x lage if I'm remembering correctly. That would mean Namek is 79264.1 in Diameter.
There are 1609.344 meters in one mile so Goku crossed 63781601.87 meters in 15 seconds.
So he basically crossed 4252106.79 meters per second
Not sure what mach that is but it's pretty impressive, and please correct me if I made a mistake in my calculations.

When did Goku go halfway around Namek?
Are you referring to when he entered the fight against Freeza?

Not only that Krillen and the others had already been traveling for hours. I doubt they were just a few islands away.
This is where they summon the dragon, after slowly sneaking away from Vegeta and Frieza's ship.
"Here's Dende's movement throughout the battle: At the summoning island up until stage 2 Frieza blows it up > then he's healing Krillin on the fourth island he swam up to, as Kirllin was thrown aside, at best he got some distance back, then is told by Piccolo to hide there > healing Piccolo and Vegeta on the same island, then dying there. After that Frieza is kicking ass and still remaining on the same island until Goku shows up."
Four islands away is the maximum distance away from Frieza's ship Goku could have moved in that scene.
Edit: Wolf for covering half of the planet you'd use half of the planets circumference, not the diameter.
