And yes he did. Rogue/Colossus/Nightcrawler pushed his sh|t in. I don't care how you lowball Thanos, that would NEVER happen if he faced that trio.
Now keep in mind that he (Magus) NEVER did anything that impressive (ripping star in half) again and the fact that he had his hands full with the New Mutants.
Thanos wins via having better fights vs far more impressive opponents.

Yeah, Thanos zops his shit in. And then he comes back and zops him againAlso Drax zopped a star core out and we saw how he faired vs Thanos
Drax and Thanos going at it destroyed an entire planet and Drax was KTFO, while Thanos was just fine.
When he woke up, not only did Drax rip a star apart with his bare hands, he also one shotted a planetoid in his rage.
If Magus' profile and description are accurate, he should win.
It would mean that the characters above haven't really encountered the entire, true Magus. It would mean that, just by falling on those enemies, he would have won, even if all of his other attributes were ignored.
If it is all bs, and we have seen his best, Thanos would win.
There's a bit of a caveat to the loss. He was searching for Warlock to kill or retrieve him when Rogue, Colossus, and Nightcrawler interviened, he knocked Nightcrawler and Colossus unconscious, and Rogue took on the powers of Colossus and Nightcrawler and teleported a portion of Magus's body away as an act of desperation which injured Magus enough for him to retreat.
That said Magus is used so little his resume is hard to compare to someone like Thanos who has more appearances. His implied level of power would make him a peer of Odin.

At his fullest he towers over the sun. Just to put that in perspective.
That said by feats, Thanos wins.

Drax ripped a star apart and one shotted a planetoid. And we all saw how "well" he did vs Thanos.
Having literally ONE nice feat and a string of crap following it doesn't mean you can take on Thanos and win.
Thanos has had far better (both in quantity and quality) opponents and track history than Magus has.

Except, our posts lacked the evidence of severe "Penis Envy" issues that are running rampant in yours. 🙄
On the flip side, I still stand by the opinion that if the Magus is EXACTLY as it has been described to be, he would win.
Just the power it would take for the Magus to have MOVEMENT, alone, would be more than most characters in the MU.
Then, there is the detail of composition, because the idea of a creature that size, being able to move, without completely breaking down, would mean that structurally, it is made of a material nearing the strength of Adamantium. Theoretically, of course.
Then, we have to look at the speed aspect, which allows the thing to travel, pretty much instantaneously throughout the cosmos.
blah, blah, blah...
