Destroyer vs Gort

Destoryer from Thor, Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Destroyer is on a mission to kill Klaatu but must defeat his body guard Gort. Gort can dematerialize into the destructive nanomites at will and has his lasers and all his other cool stuff.

Nanite GORT stomps

You'd be far better off using the original 50's version.

BTW, did you happen to see TDTESS on TV recently?

Want to say GORT, but not sure if GORT's nanites can eat away the Destroyer armor. Might be a draw match.

One of the shitty parts of life is not having cable tv🙁

I didn't use the 50's version cause I never seen it and I figured it would unfair since that was 50 years ago of CG vs present day.

You may be right now that I think about it. Still say he should have used the 50's version.

Who gives a phuck? There's nothing good on cable TV anyways. You have the internet. You can find any show or film you want at your whim, unless you have a slow connection or limited internet access, in which case I apologize.

GORT was an absolute beast in the original. He was slower obviously, but he had a beam that disintegrated everything it touched. Toward the end of the film, Klaatu tells Helen Benson his concern about Gort saying "There's no limit to what he can do. He could destroy the Earth... If anything should happen to me you must go to Gort, you must say these words, 'Klaatu barada nikto', please repeat that."
Shortly after, Klaatu is shot and killed. While Klaatu's body is being put in a jail cell, Gort, knowing he has died, begins dissolving the thick polymor cube that now encases him; with his heat-ray he disintegrates the two night Army guards standing watch.

So original GORT was pretty damn powerful. It's odd how that film blows the new one out of the water not because it had better effects, but simply because it was a purer and more beautiful story. But that's besides the point. 50's GORT would be an awesome opponent for the destroyer.

Well I re read my OP and I never stated which version so you guys can have your imaginations run wild with both ideas!🙂

Is the 50's version on Netflix by chance?

It's not on Netflix, but it is directly here. It's a great watch.

OK thanks

Most likely the Destroyer is made of Uru like the comic version

so how are the nanites ment to eat through that.

Destroyer blew up a few cars and shop fronts and blasted a few icey bad guys...Gort laid waste to huge swathes of America and eat diamond for a laugh.

Shame...Cos the Destroyer should've been more powerful than it was shown to be.

But as it is...Gort stomps.

Gort wins.

Ugh. I was just disgustingly reminded that they actually referenced "Klaatu barada nikto" in Scary Movie 5. That was one painful experience. The only thing to make it worse is that I had to compare it with A Haunted House 😘
