Jor-El beat him while normal I don't see why he shouldn't win while powered as well. It wasn't like Zod had a massive experience trump on him with powers.

It actually bugged me though that Jor-El was able to beat Zod in a fight. In some ways it almost feels like it lessoned the threat of Zod to have him lose like that.

I agree in that it greatly undermined his skill and his competency as a villain.
