Does porn promote or prevent abuse to women?

Started by jinXed by JaNx3 pages

im more worried about whether or not porno promotes abuse towards midgets and amputees. The things those midgets and amputees do in pornos will leave gymnists scratching their heads

Why do mucky movies have to either promote or prevent abuse? If people are gonna abuse other people it's because they are mentally unstable and they will do it no matter the amount of porn they may or may not have consumed. And I wouldn't attribute the lack of abuse to the vast array of porn available either, just that most people are normal, know right from wrong, not psychotic sociopath type folk. So no I wouldn't say porn either promotes or prevents the abuse of anyone. Unless of course it was me who did the abusing, after all, who wants to take responsibility for that sh.t? "The porn made me do it!!"

I really don't know what the poster was trying to ask or accomplish with this thread. Yes, there are genres of porno that are created to display degradation and physical abuse through sex. If you do any kind of research into the world of pornography you realize this within the first several minutes of your research. Just as there are different types of films that made to inspire certain thoughts and emotions there are different types of porno. The difference here is that when a porno is made with the focus to showcase physical and sexual abuse, it's done so to cater to a specific fantasy and expects no type of intellectual processing or radical self inferencing. Now, whether or not this promotes a degradation to personality or inspires negative actions is another question but, yes there is no question that there are pornos that promote abuse to woman and men alike. Porno in general, however is just like everything else. It's all in the eye of the beholder or should i say clicker. I think the question should be..,why does this appeal to certain people and what type of affects i can have on society. I suppose the question can be answered with simple psychology but i say, as long as people with fantasies of raping or graphically abusing others through sex can confront and contain these fantasies or urges through porno, then good.

"any kind of research" made me laugh that one.
"what are you up to dear? Oh just some "ahem" research".

But yeah, what you said.

Is it merely so simple that all porn perhaps leads to objectification and abuse or not.

Do tell 😱

women are "abused" by porn as an extension of how they are abused more generally in society. ie: they are vulnerable to sexual exploitation by powerful men, they have issues with personal trauma, etc, etc, etc. Because women are put in positions where they have few other options or don't feel they have other options, they are put in a position where they can be exploited. In those instances, sure, porn is abusive, but so are most relationships between people that are formed on those exploitative foundations.

Is the existence of porn, broadly, abusive to women. no... In that same regard, porn isn't magical in any other way.

Actually, it's "the wimminfolk." Also, instead of Mrs. you say "Goody Housewife" so you don't have to remember all of the girls' names. Cause they jes' don't matter that much ter the general health an' well-bein' of that there commune-ity.

Or you could say women or woman for singular and join the twenty first century.

As long as no one's getting screwed financially or whatever, unless you're an addict or watching kiddie porn, it's healthy for everyone to be comfortable with all of the parts of themselves even - o my - their sexual selves. Since boys tend to be more on the horny alert than girls, using porn to help yourself is a much better option than.... well, I'm sure you all have healthy imaginations. Must be the porn.

What kind of porn do you prefer to watch?

Old musical Disney movies, where the girl wants to do something to change herself/the world, does so, and ends up with a sensitive, sexy he-man whose voice harmonizes perfectly with [strikeout]mine[/srikeout] the heroine's.

Like Beauty and the Beast. Kinda have to check your brain at the bestiality and hallucenogenics that make the staff think they're household objects.

Damnit, how do you strike out something, anyway?!

lol... the beast was also abusive emotionally and physically, Bell likely had stockholm syndrome or something...

The solution to this problem and perception of degradation or exploitation is simple.
1. Clearly legalize all pornography and prostitution that does not involve any living being legally incapable of giving consent.
2. Have all sex workers form a powerful union to negotiate fair pay for male and female actors, enforce mandatory and regular STD testing, educate workers about safe sex, meaning not just pregnancy and STD protection, but lessons in how to perform sex acts in a safe, entertaining and professional manner.
3. Shun any of the seedier, non-union operations via labeling, like the Union Label campaign did.
4. Enact legislation banning non-union prostitution.
5. Establish a government board in every major city for oversight of union operations such as making sure everyone is safe, of age, and tested.

I mean, let's not forget that in industry, unions were one of the biggest forces of training, quality assurance, and policing of illegal immigration before they lost power under Carter and Ronald McReagan.

false dilemmas are fun

The worst part of porn, by a wide margin, is the lack of skilled editors. Amateur porn has totally killed the artistry.

The legal status of porn in the US is hilarious. No one will take pornographers to court because they know they'll lose. No one will take anti-porn laws off the books because no one ever brings it to the courts. It is effective only illegal because everyone knows its legal.

Use of condoms is apparently the only thing that is really needed in this arena. STD rates among porn stars are extremely low.
