I remember Cage got hurt by a bullet in his early days when he was only roughly class 3. He caught a 357. Magnum bullet from close range and said it felt like it nearly snatched his hand off. But those were the very very early days.
Bullets hurt him at least through the original Power Man and Iron Fist run, into the 1980's.
For the era, Priest did right, by having Danny nearly take his head off, imo.
And in fact, Claremont himself had Danny one up Cage on several occasions, like ripping apart robots he couldn't even dent. Which makes Claremont writing Cage tanking Danny's best Iron Fist to no effect a puzzler.. Did he really believe Cage was that tough, and changed his mind in later stories? Or was he under editorial pressure (It being Cages comic and all, before Danny became his partner.)
