Curryman's New-Amalgam Tourney!

Curryman's Meta-Amalgam Tournament

Official Thread

Step 1; Drafting
Choose any 3 characters from High Meta or below.

Body: You choose the body of a character.
Mind: You put the mind of a character in said body.
Powers: You endow said person with a power-set.

Simply put; Body + Mind + Power = Your Amalgam

Step 2; Power Limitations
Make sure that your character does not violate any of these rules/limitations

- No death-moves, this means attacks that by their very nature are completely unavoidable and un-defendable against.
- No offensive matter manipulation (ie. Can not be used directly on the battlefield/opponents)
- No multiplying (ie. Multiple Man, dupli-kate, multi-paul).
- Power Absorption/Copying/Amplification is not allowed beyond the obvious benefits on your amalgamation.
- No going past 99% of light-speed
- No time manipulation
- No complete/inherent invulnerability
- No inherent immortality (Characters who are banned from death's domain, destined to live, etc)
- Regeneration within reason. Your character can not be functionally immortal due to an extremely powerful regeneration. (Ie. Survive being turned into go, completely destroyed, etc)
- No body-swapping; as I feel this goes against the purpose of an amalgam tourney.
- Changes made to the tier list after this date will not count towards the tourney.
- Telepathy/TK that is learned will fall under mind. “Gifted” will fall under Powers.
- Magic will fall into the mind-category assuming it does not rely on a original character's body.

Step 3; Personalize it
Look at the characters you've drafted and terrible yet wonderful amalgamation of them.

Think of a name for your creation.
Find a theme song for your creation.

Step 4; Strategy Limitations
These are restrictions in which you'll be fighting

- 30 seconds prep-time
- Prep-time is strictly 30 seconds to choose your gear, nothing can be created
- The amalgamated characters' resources have been conveniently pooled
- Only basic knowledge of opponents (participants are subject to mind-wipes)
- You can not prepare spells in the prep-time
- You can only use spells shown in the comics
- No memory retention (ie, knowledge of previous fights in-tourney)
- 1 independent construction; Can not go above high-meta, must be created in-battle.
- Battleground is surrounded by an enormous forcefield, if you go through one side then you reappear at the other. Combatants are not aware of this
- No loopholes; I, the host, will decide what is within the rules and what is not
- Feats from after the draft finishes will not be eligible

Draft Information:

- Drafting starts June 27th 8:00 AM GMT+0. British standard
- Characters will be drafted one at a time
- First come first serve
- Specify what part of the amalgam you draft your character for
- If your character is rejected, you have to pick again
- You might be forced to redraft if someone makes a valid case against a character when the drafts are posted

Information of battles will arrive later, depending on the number of participants and judges. Ideally I'd like 7 days to a fight and then 3-4 days to judge.

Participants sign up here or in the thread!
Judges PM me!
Please ask if you have any questions/need clarifications.
if i chose Colossus power in Spideys or Nightcrawlers Body would it still have the inate acrobatic ability?

that's mental training so you'd get whatever colossus knows of spider-man and nighcrawler's fighting style.

Great!

Glad to have you on board 🙂

Count one more tourney veteran on board🙂

How do debates work? I'd love to do something like this

I can send you a quick explanation in detail, but it's basically something like this;

- You get an opponent and 3 or 5 judges for your match.

- You mail your opening post to the host, and then he/she posts both in the thread.

- Then you and your opponent debate back and forth for a week or so.

- You will only get around 5-10 posts and once the debate is over, the judges cast their verdict.

- We tally up the judges votes and declare a winner 🙂

Good to see you Char.

Little bit different from most tourney's I've played in ( in terms of how it's run)
But I love a tourney so count me in.
How many players are you after? I know a few dozen on other sites that I play against regularly, not sure if they have accounts here but I can PM at least a couple of Dozen regular tourney players ( some would have to be members here as well).

Glad to see you're so committed.

Ideally it should only people who have been active here for 6 months or so. I'm relatively new myself, so I don't mind if people who've only been here a couple of months join.

It is however a KMC tournament, and as such we'll probably dis-allow week-old members and such. Sorry, but glad to have you on board 🙂

OH i didn't think people would join just to play. I just figured I can't be the inly one with a user account on a couple of dozen comic forums. I've already come across some who are on here and on a few ( or in each case on of a few) other sites. It's a little bit easier for everyone to know me when i join a site ( always use the same username or variations there of- Example was both Beatboks, beatboks1 and beatboks02 on DCU boards way back when ( new accounts when i forgot my password or changed PC and email account). Simialr variations on CV, Comicbloc, hero chat, Comic Ledger etc etc etc (there'd be 7 more "etc's" ..........

Haha, if you think some of your friends have accounts here then sure 🙂

I have to say, I REALLY like the power limitations. Too many tournaments get bogged down in to "I MAKE A MILLION ATOM SIZED KRYPTONIANS AND KILL YOU TO DEATH" tactics.

I agree with you except for the "Kill you to death part". That should ALWAYS be allowed. biscuits

😂

ok, point taken.

I have a question with regards the draft. if choosing a body what do tou get with it. where does the line draw between "body" and "powers". for example you can get some characters who bave high durability and strength that aren't "powers" per se but others like say Superman ( who has his physical abilities because bis body is a solar battery) where physical abilities are nothing BUT powers ( hence why his body weakens if he expends too much energy)

A lot of this has been clarified in the original thread, check it out.

Essentially any passive physical thing counts as body.

Anything that's natural to you, in example Superman's physical abilities and/or Martian Manhunter's strength.

You just don't know how to operate within a tourney's rules well enough. In my first battle, I'm bringing the Warlogog with me.

and the point would be??

No time manipulation

It won't be much use if your not allowed to manipulate time.
