Their light was stolen hence why it was possible. Cause and effect. You can't steal light from the TB verse.

This only works on some place like Hyrule in which the light can be stolen. That's the whole point. Sunlight kills vampires. Your point makes no sense from any angle.

1. Lie. The absence of a light spirit is not Twilight, Twilight exists independently, the light spirits can keep it out, this is why they are defeated. True Blood has no guardian that can stop two dimensions from being overlapped, it has no defense.

When Ganondorf created the shield surrounding Hyrule Castle he also created a twilight field inside of it. He could do this to the battle field even if the light spirits were determined to stop him.
