I've noticed it's been getting mostly poor reviews, too. Even though the cast is amazing, I probably won't spend money on this in the theater, not because of the negative reviews, but because it just doesn't really look like my cup of tea. I know I'll enjoy it more if I don't spend $11+ on it. That being said, Screenrant gave it a good review, comparing Cormac McCarthy's wordiness to the likes of Quentin Tarantino. Made it sound quite interesting, being a sort of "stylized" and "hyper-real" meditation on greed and power (kind of the same way Prometheus was a dark, stylized meditation on the origin and meaning of life)...

Screenrant Review: 3.5/5 stars

Haven't seen it yet, but the general vibe is that it's not that good. Or at least, it has some serious pitfalls. I'm disappointed as I was looking forward to seeing it, but now I may just wait until Redbox has it available.

Saw this tonight for cheap.

I actually thought it was okay. Slow moving, yes, but it delivers on some existential levels. That's kind of how Ridley Scott is operating now in his older age, which is probably throwing people off. But yeah, I thought it was actually pretty good. Extremely sad, though. It's yet again about death, like Prometheus. Ridley clearly has the issue on his mind...

His brother, no doubt.

Odd you mention him, considering I was watching Man On Fire earlier today.

The problem with Prometheus is that it it was a crappy copy of Alien's plot trying to be 2001: A Space Odyssey.
