Thor breaks his face, and shows him what a true weapon of a God looks like.Superman went out like such a b*tch. Slammed into a car door and zapped with some energy. God, I hate when team books job characters. In retrospect, Thor did pretty well surviving on the Avengers all these years.
On energy blasts, I'll note *Ma*gog was tested by the JSA as having energy output at least on a level with Alan Scott, and Gog was stronger than Magog.

Sorry, but a guy who was able to contend with, and seemingly get the better of, DotNG Infinity Man in a short amount of time:

Is going to beat Thor.Gog also displayed his uberness when he fought an immensely powerful JSA line-up, consisting of: KC Superman, Starman, Power Girl, Amazing Man(who'd duped the traits of Gog's staff), Alan Scott, Obsidian, etc. etc. Heck, even that JSA never did manage to put Gog down for any length of time.
He stomps Thor.
Galan, what's the different between Gog and Magog? The one who fought with Power Girl and stuff?

Well, the scans you posted depict the difference nicely.Magog was rocked--damn near KO'd--by Power Girl. Conversely, Gog steamrolled through a JSA roster that consisted of Power Girl and a host of other powerhouses.
I just want to know if David simply gave himself a name change from Gog to Magog or there was an actual power reduction in the process. Because I'm in the middle of Planetary and I don't want to read through JSA just to learn about one character.
The closest thing to an explicitly referenced power reduction I can recall was from MidNite. After running some tests on Magog, he stated that Magog's power levels were "approaching" those of KC Superman-- but we know Gog was far, far stronger than KC Supes...
Other then that, I don't think anything else was mentioned. There was definitely a difference, though. A big one. /shrug

So wait, there was no actual depowering? He just changed his name? Then I have to re-evaluate where I place Gog. As that's not the only time he and Kara sparred:
So his power levels approaching Superman make much more sense.
Yea, he was tooling the JSA as we saw, but we both know how comics can be with inverse ninja law. In this very brief exchange, Superman came off as far more competent:
I'll read through the series and try to come up with an average when I have time. Characters have a good outing but bottom out all the time. Still, the level difference is jarring so I just assumed he was depowered or something.

Gog and Magog are two different characters. Gog was a missionary named William Mathews who found True Gog's staff and become the herald gog. Magog was a soldier named David Reid who was resurrected by True Gog and given powers after he killed herald Gog.
That makes much more sense.
William Matthews took on the JSA in the initial scans that Galan posted right?

Which is what Abhi pointed out earlier.

Those scans depict Magog(David Reid), who is a completely different character than Gog(William Matthews.) Matthews is the version that stalemated DotNG Infinity Man, and steamrolled through the uber JSA lineup. Reid is the version that got rocked by Power Girl.Huge difference between them.
Did you read the Magog series? Where do you put Magog power wise? Mid tier?

Why didn't you just say they were different characters? I was getting so confused lol. But yea, I get it now.
Original Gog's only scene is taking on the JSA and while I think they can be ineffective feebs despite all their power, he wins this thread.
