Yeah, courts can decide that a given sale or merger would be harmful to competition and block it even if it isn't an actual monopoly. If that's what you're saying, then sure. The courts could. I thought you were saying "That sale could never happen".

To get on the 'what if', not sure that Disney owning both would be a terrible thing, we could get two better products if there's intelligence sharing between both groups of writers and artist.

Nah I personally think we need the competition. TDK Trilogy kept Marvel on their toes. And pretty much everything Marvel has done has forced WB to take its other DC Properties more seriously.

👆 The more competition, the better.

I'd actually prefer that Disney spend money on Marvel properties rather than Warner Bros. Get spiderman or Fantastic Four

Oh yeah. I really wish they'd buy Spider-Man back. I don't see why they don't at least put down an offer.

Maybe because Sony won't budge. They need to have their billion dollar toy.

It's likely too expensive for them. Sony isn't given them any discount; they're even marking it up more than likely. Disney just has to do a waiting game. Spidey is Marvel property and eventually Sony is going to run out of materials. They're turning to Spidey villains for more movies so they won't have to give up Spidey. But really, they're limited to just movies, nothing else. This would be like making indefinite Star Wars, even the love will fade.

lol.

If it was a priority for them, Disney has enough money to double any offer Fox and Sony would accept for the X-Men and Spider-Man properties.

They make nearly 2.5 billion in PROFITS... A YEAR!!!!... from Disney World alone.

If this is true, they really have no excuse. They could buy Spidey with half a years worth of profits from just Disney Land. They could probably buy back the Fantastic Four for probably half of that. They could have every major property back within a year (except for maybe Xmen which will cost more). Holy shit.

yeah, man, that phuckin' mouse needs to give up some of that cheese so we can get a legit Civil War arc in the cinematic universe.

But think of all the good things that Sony did with Spidey 😛

Though the overlords should at least put an offer up for the Fantastic Four. That way we could get a solid Galactus on screen.

As for this thread, is anyone amused how there still isn't any screen shots of the new Lex.

So Sony wants 1 Billion for Spiderman. Disney will buy?

Sony won't sell. Spiderman's their most profitable movie franchise.

But I'd say in terms of priorities, Spidey is more important than X-Men or FF. Simply because he's Marvel's Batman/Superman. He's their poster boy, their icon. And he's just sat there all alone with another company with no possibility of a crossover with anyone.

I'm hoping JE is putting on muscle for that role. I wont be able to take him seriously otherwise.

Actually, your right. The first trilogy is still the highest grossing super hero movie franchise to date (accounting for inflation of course), even over TDK trilogy. Spiderman 2 is the highest rated super hero movie to date, tied only with TDK. Spidey has died a bit in recent years, but he is the biggest property Marvel needs to get a hold of.

While I agree healthy competition is good and you may well be correct here, DC and Marvel are not really competing for viewers.

It's not like buying a Coke from the vending machine generally means you're not going to buy a Pepsi after, it's one or the other. People will go see Superman & Batman even if they watched Captain America 3.

Eisenberg is 5'7" and built like a twig, even if he puts on some muscle he's going to look even more awkward than Hardy-Bane did in some scenes due to his 5'9" stature.

Affleck is going to tower over him unless Jessie wears some Tom Cruise sanctioned shoe-lifts.

Nothing Lex does is dependent on his size. What really matters is that Eisenberg embodies the persona.

Well Peter Dinklage was able to play a solid Trask in DoFP. Course Dinklage>>>Eisenberg IMO so I'm not sure that helps the case of the new Lex.

While correct since he generally fights the hero with his intellect, his imposing figure is part of his menacing aura. I've most enjoyed Lex in that depiction at least.

But yeah, if Eisenberg does an outstanding job of capturing Lex, his smaller size shouldn't matter. I personally have little faith he will. Hope I've proved wrong.
