Doesn't mean he's a bad writer. I don't think WB would have hired him to write the Justice League and the rumored solo Batman movie directed by Affleck. Supposedly he's high in demand.
M.Night used to be high in demand.

I actually like him as a writer so far, so I have nothing to complain about. Is it a guarantee slam dunk? Of course not, but more signs are pointing out that he will deliver. WB wouldn't have hired a weak writer to helm the Justice league movie and Affleck wouldn't have hired him on the first place.
Plus, his script is getting praise from the whole cast.

Not every movie is going to be good. Chris Terrio has the credentials to back him up. The dude won an Oscar for his first movie.
He hasn't done enough to back up anything, there are no credentials.
M. Night and Singer both came out the gate looking impressive, then they made a bunch of shitty movies.

Having one movie didn't stop him from winning multiple awards. The same could be said in reverse. He hasn't done enough to label this a disaster.
