Taken/inspired directly from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns comic. But that one had decent reasons why armoured-Bats could take on Superman.

So far this one's not shown that (which might be a good thing, keeping us in the dark), but Superman does comment in the trailer that he could have ended the fight anytime he wanted.
