Iron Man 3 wasn't a bad movie. It was funny as hell. The problem is, it wasn't a good Super Hero movie. It had it's moments but it will never live down the Mandarin reveal. Honestly though, Marvel being bold with that move (whether you like it or not) didn't hurt them at all financially. IM3 made over 1billion, being the third MCU movie to do that. So, bash on it all you want, it was a success.
Getting back to BvS...

To a lot of people it wasn't funny at all. Including KMCers.

I found IM 3 a decent super hero movie, but the dialogue/writing was horrendous. None of the jokes were funny.

Nah BvS is pretty much guaranteed to make over a Billion Dollars. Doesn't mean it won't be a sucky movie and dent DC's success in the future.
And Marvel themselves would have noticed IM3's success was Post-Avengers hype, because it didn't have a very good multiplier after Opening Weekend. Then got outsold by MOS(which made half as much on the big screen) on DVD/Blu-Ray that same year.
So that's not the kind of after taste they want from their Billion dollar movies. They want to keep their Massive brand name for the long term, and CA:TWS and GOTG aided much more in that goal than IM3 did IMHO.

Kinda funny (or sad, depending), making over a billion really isn't as spectacular in terms of bragging rights for wide-audience mega blockbusters as it once was.
The sad part is that you have outstanding films like 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' and 'The Imitation Game', and neither would likely hit the quarter-billion mark, let alone surpass it. But that likely has to due to mass-market appeal.
