Same shit. Like I said only difference is that Zod had more screen time to flesh or his motivations more. But it was basically ,"Rawr I need to kill jor-els son!".
The other 2 had some of their story arcs clips taken out the film.
The only reason Zod is even remembered more is because he got his necked snapped.
As happens often in regards to Man of Steel, I feel that I must have seen a different film from other people. Zod only wanted revenge on Kal-El after the genesis chamber was destroyed and his subordinates were sent back to The Phantom Zone. Up until then he was 100% about the resurrection of Krypton; whatever it took.
This isn't Donner Zod. Jor-El was not his jailer. There was no special animosity there. Hell, it was obvious he still had respect for him, they simply had a disagreement on what was best for Krypton. And I have no doubt that he would have welcomed Kal-El into the fold with open arms if he had cooperated.
Also, a big difference between Ronan and Zod versus Malekith is I still have no idea what Mal was trying to accomplish or how it would help him. Darken the nine Realms and then what? The dark elves aren't mole people, they have eyes and can see during the day. Their Planet even had a star. It's as though the writers expected us to just go: "Dark elves, dark universe, makes sense." And he got his ass kicked by the hero's mom. Absolute trash of a villain.
