Lex can make his appearance in the movie as a business tycoon who invests in futuristic android projects. Superman of course should be able to fight a villain who can tank what he dishes out so i strongly feel Metallo would be a perfect fit here. They can introduce kryptonite and also use it asap as metallo has a kryptonite heart. And here is how the batman universe can fit in... batman is after a criminal who has escaped arkham. The criminal is taking refuge in metropolis and is approached by Lex to take part in a scientific undertaking promising him money and protection from batman if he agrees. The criminal takes the deal becoming metallo.
