Songs That Have Influenced Us

I am currently writing something for a class I take, and it wants me to be creative. So I pulled out my old CD collection (reminding everyone in forums that my CD collection is huge, filled with burned and regular albums, and half of which I have no clue what lies upon them) and I discovered songs that I hadn't listen to in years. And I started realizing that every time I heard that song I remembered a time in my life where it had been inspirational. Such as the theme from Braveheart, done by Enya...I heard it before my mom died. So does anyone else have music lying around that meant something to them once before but haven't pulled out to give a good whirl in the CD player since?

I dont count burned cd`s as part of my collection, just the real stuff here.
And the theme from Bravehart is not done by ENYA at all it is by LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and it was composed and conducted by James Horner. I have the original motion picture soundtrack and are really puzzled of where this enya rumor really started, but I have seen it marked as an Enya tune on the various download sites but it is not her at all

about music that influenced me,I guess a lot of Pink Floyd tunes and Deep Purple tunes and so on. All cd`s I have influenced me some way or another, thats why I bought the cd`s

I don't have burned CD's, I believe in supporting the artist.

well I burn cds for parties and holidays so that I dont need to bring the original stuff, allready supportet the artist by buying ther album

when i was very little...i used to listen to abba a lot. And now that i think of it ....eek!...what did i ever like about those. Brr...i have some horrible memories on abba. like some of my fish dying (wich i'm....was very fond of)

Ozzy reminds me of my youth, I was a big fan as a kid.

Rage Against the Machine always remind me of my last year at school, it was always on in the common room.

The Charalatans remind me of the days when I was in the pub every night (pre-Mrs.MM days), those tunes always make me thirsty now.

Oasis remind me of when Mrs.MM and I met.

UB40, Bob Marley, dire Strait remind me of my Middle teens, Sabbath, AC/DC motorhead etc remind me of mt early teens.

Me too.

same here.

I have a Staind album and the song "Outside" explains my stay in highschool.

I support the artists too! Its annoying when you put so much time and effort into writing/recording a song, and then someone rips you off in a matter of 5 minutes!

Anyway, songs like influence me mostly influence my song writing! Songs like;

Yesterday Went Too Soon/Just A Day/Just The Way I'm Feeling/Buck Rogers- Feeder

Time of the Oath/Power/The Dark Ride/- Helloween

Last Resort/Legacy- Papa Roach

An immense amount of film music!!!

Hang on, I can't really be bothered writing today!!!

utter nonsense.

I don't buy or copy CD's just for the fact its cheap, I prefer the real thing in my CD collection.

I do, however, try to support my local small record store when possible. Its sometimes hard to do when some CD's are priced so stupidly and the bigger stores have sales on, but you've gotta support the little people if possible.

I find that the copies never play well in the Car either

I don't like pirate videos either, they're never as good as the real thing.

*Pauses to wait for Pirate joke from someone*

it's too easy, just leave it.

Ooooooooh. 🙁

How so???? If people don't pay for it then eventually it will disappear.

Then nonsense is the idiot who feels they have some strange right to rip off the artist...

pah! I'll tell you one thing though; I buy _lots more cd's than the average guy at my age; I do prefer the real thing and I do buy cd's at a regular basis. HOWEVER, it is downright NECESSARY for me to download music too. I do not download complete albums at a time of course, but I do not always have the money (which isn't too good a reason), and the most important; access to the music I want. I simply cannot get all the music I want; certainly not in the town I live in, and often very hard in norway at all. I can't buy online where credit card is needed so that's impossible for me, and it's really hard finding the very non-commercial experimental music I often listen to.
If nothing else, me downloading music can make me more determined to buy a cd, if what I hear really appeals to me.

I see nothing wrong in what I do, and I'll damn well keep doing it.
