If Gabriel has God's "backing" then I don't see how this doesn't become more than a philosophical debate.

With Gabriel probably winning on that front. Though Kryptonians on screen have powerful feats. One has to argue whether speed, strength and durability matter in such circumstances.

I don't see Gabriel backing but either way I think he/his powers are measured by a different realm of existence. Superman is purely physical. Unless he was aware of a demons weaknesses then he doesn't have a chance.
