I rank Malgus approximately on Vader's level, and Nox is above them overall imo. As for Kun, I'd rank him higher than Nox in terms of saber skills, but overall combat prowess and Force power, he's not above Nox.

Savage was at a point giving hell to Anakin/Kenobi/Ventress.
Plo is noted as one of the best swordsman the Jedi have ever produced so he would have been a better choice than molar or tinn or even fisto. Kenobi would have been better to but Sidious would have to spare him and his plan would fall apart since obi is anakins closest friend and brother. But Koon was a better choice but he wasn't available.
