Godzilla 1998 sequel vs Godzilla 2014 reboot

Which would you have preffered? A continuation of where the American "Godzilla" movie ended(one egg suddenly hatched revealing surviving baby Zilla) or the reboot already said to follow the Japanese Godzilla?

the 98 godzilla was pure fail. the actual creature was not bad but it was not godzilla in anything but name.

They did continue the movie in the Godzilla animated series which actually worked out a lot better than the movie, it had Godzilla vs other monsters and the show was actually pretty damn cool which is what we should've had in the movie
