Infinity Watch vs Annihilators

Eternity has deemed that the Infinity Gems are too dangerous to be left in the hands of the Infinity Watch and has tasked the Defenders to relieve them of their Gems. Can they do it?

Infinity Watch: Warlock, Pip, Drax, Moon Dragon, Gamora, and Thanos

VS

Annihilators: Silver Surfer, Beta Ray Bill, Gladiator, Ikon, Quasar, and Ronan the Accuser.

Stipulations: Annihilators have 24 hours to prep and strategize, as well as the element of surprise. Infinity Watch is the Blood & Thunder version. Annihilators can choose to either take out Thanos, on Sanctuary first or take on the other five out on Monster Island.

If the Annihilators plan to and focus on one member of the Watch at a time then they have a shot. Take out Moondragon first and give the Mind Gem to Gladiator, then take Pip out and give his Space Gem to Ikon. Next take Gamora and give the Time Gem to Bill, next comes Drax, give his Power Gem to Quasar, after that take Warlock's Soul Gem and give it to Surfer. Their combined power, backed by the Gems might be enough to take Thanos after a tough fight.

This can only happen if the other member of IW are simply standing around watching the Annihilators pick them off one by one. If they have any braincells still working they will attack at once, and if they do that Annihilators get roflcopterstomped into the floor.

If it is the original Annihilators and they have Nova instead of Ikon, then the worldmind could pull out all the brakes keeping the Nova force in check and allow the whole thing to be unleashed, and then they might have a chance, but even then it is still a very, very slim one.

In B&T the Watch didn't just focus on Thor and leave Valkyrie to her own devices. They split their ranks and attacked both foes at the same time. In this scenario I see know reason to believe that the Watch would focus all their power on one Annihilator and leave the others alone. Once they start pairing off the Annihilators have a distinct advantage. Quasar, Surfer, Gladiator, or Bill are certainly capable of one shotting Gamora, Pip, or Moondragon. Especially if one of them are preoccupied with Ikon or Ronan. Once one of them is taken out and their Gem is secured and given to a predetermined Annihilator things start going downhill for the Watch pretty quickly. Gladiator with the Mind Gem for example would be pretty scary, as would Bill with the Time Gem.

The problem here isn't Pip, Gamora, or Moondragon, though moondragon could potentially be a problem. The problems here are Thanos, Adam Warlock and Drax, who are not just ridiculously powerful in these incarnations but also start out with infinity gems. There is simply no way the Annihilators can win. In fact, to make this an even nearly fair fight, have the Annihilators start out with the infinity gems, because if the IW start out with them there is almost nothing Annihilators can do to win.

If they chose to take on Thanos first before amping themselves with the other five gems, then I would agree with you, but that would be suicidal. As for Drax and Warlock, Surfer had battled Drax before and walked away with very little damage. The Power Gem did very little to amp Drax, probably due to his infantile state of mind. Classic Drax, before he acquired the Power Gem was more impressive, at least in terms of actual feats, IMO. As for Warlock, he would probably be the toughest nut to crack out of the main five, but numbers wouldn't be on his side. Four of the Annihilators: Surfer, Bill, Gladiator, or Quasar would give him a run for his money on their own, not saying that individually they would beat him outright, but 4 amped Annihilators at once would be too much for Warlock. Once the first 5 have been taken down that leaves Thanos facing the Annihilators, five of which are not amped by the Infinity Gems, that would be a very high hurdle to overcome, even for Thanos.

You have a point, but it hinges on IW not using any teamwork. Lets say for example that they collide with one member for each team taking on another member from the other, Warlock could for example take out Ikon literally in a matter of moments. Once that happens, the Annihilators are down to five, which would leave Drax and Gamora to dive on surfer.

Thanos could actually take on Gladiator and Quasar at once in my opinion, and you can do the math from there. Not to mention whoever has the reality gem at this point can pretty much just cheat their way through.

Thanos isn't fighting alongside the Watch though, that is a separate battle. With the Annihilators having the element of surprise and the benefit of being able to plan ahead, I'd argue that the Annihilators have a higher probability of thinning the Watch's numbers first.
