This is a game with the coin flip Superman picks 1st then Thor someone will play as Thor and the other as Superman at the end both teams will fight in the big battle.

From most powerful to least. Assuming both Superman and Thor know this;

Superman: SM, Asura, Goku, Hulk
Thor: GL, Bills, Buu, Storm

Advantage in this, with these far stretched line ups, will go to the first pick.

But again, do they have prior knowledge about the characters or are they picking them as strangers?

Its based on your knowledge you are playing as the character its your knowledge alone stop being so uptight and learn to loosen up. And will someone play Thor I might play him latter if no one wants to.
