1 Krayt Dragon (KOTOR) vs. 2 Rancors

Probably in large numbers. Also, Krayt juveniles are most likely to be the target.

It isn't in large numbers. Sand Demons are just really strong. They can bore through rock.

And it isn't juveniles. That Greater Krayt Dragon skeleton you posted is right outside a Sand Demon lair in Swtor.

how does a sand demon manage to hunt a krayt, exactly?

I'd assume they have evolved some advantage specifically for hunting Krayt Dragons. They also could attack it while it's sleeping.

Bandon solos.
Ya know what, I just blew Bandon up, now your champion is dead.

Now the Noghiri's rise may begin.

Again, I find that unlikely based on the 2 Greater Krayt Dragons found outside the lair on the Sand Demon on TOR. Unless they were napping right in the middle of a desert 30 seconds walk away from a Republic settlement.

Well, Greater Krayts are huge. A Sand Demon could easily escape it's notice, especially if it is hiding under the sand, and then latches on to the Krayt Dragon.

Ultimately, I'm doubtful they are attacking Krayts head-on and instead use stealth and other commonly used hunting tactics.

I agree. From what I see, the greater krayt would stomp the sand demon if it was a straight on battle.

I think that Sand Demons are pack predators (I got this impression when I visited a lair of this species on Tatooine). I accept the fact that even a lone Sand Demon is a force to be reckoned (it can bore through even rocks as you pointed out), but large numbers would make the species virtually unstoppable in hunting/combat scenarios.

That region is actually a Krayt Dragon graveyard. Krayt Dragons instinctively go to places known as their graveyards when they are on the brink of death.

It actually makes sense for Sand Demons to establish their lairs in such regions (Krayt Dragon graveyards) because they can have an easy meal in such regions.

Don't let the size of Sand Demons fool you; a fully grown Sand Demon can bore through rocks and even demolish large vehicles.

However, yes, I do think that nothing would want to mess with a fully grown and healthy Greater Krayt Dragon. Its sheer size alone would discourage any potential adversary. And yes, this monster may crush even a fully grown Sand Demon without much effort. 😛

Though it is possible that Sand Demons can overwhelm any kind of adversary with large numbers, should they try.

In the nutshell, both (super) predators hold their own in their own ways.

One thing is clear, Tatooine's wildlife is extremely dangerous (probably the result of harsh environmental conditions and scarcity of resources). It would suck to be a Bantha on this planet.

This is my background:

I wish they let you fight a Krayt Dragon in TOR.

Originally that was gonna be the world boss...but then they replaced it with ****ing Trapjaw.

Trapjaw sucks. The best world boss in the game is probably the ****ing oversized wampa on Ilum.

I love Karis, the world boss just chilling in a level 47 mission area on Voss.

AOE + "didn't see you there" = wasted medical probe.

Edit...

Greater krayt Dragon V.S Mutant rancors (Not thise tiny from TFU those from Jedi Knigth academmy..)
Those 2 beast are invincible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, an NPC on Korriban credited Revan for surviving in an encounter with such a monster because the NPC mentioned that it was rare for anybody to survive in a confrontation with one..

Ooo interesting! Do you have a quote?

Is that impressive though? All Revan did was lead a herd of Bantha to the bomb site and the Twi'lek hunter set off the explosives 😬 not like he had a direct confrontation with a Krayt Dragon.

I don't see that's a reason why I can't see the quote. 🙂

Alrighty, though I may have found a quote that make's Revan's defeat of the Sand people during that fight more impressive if you want it.
