Mayhaps that will be the case in the future. But as of now making definitive answers about who he is when the next issue reveals his people, and all we know (so far) is that his natural form looks absolutely nothing like a Kryptonian. And if he isn't Kryptonian, then him being powered by the same source doesn't have much relevance.

If he shares the same weaknesses as Superman, you're going to have to do more than him sharing power sources with Superman. Might as well start claiming sun eaters are weak to kryptonite.

Except, he also has the same powers as Superman and, according to Superman himself, similar cells. There is far more to their similarities than that they are merely both charged by the Sun.
But anyway, you figure similarities in powers net a weakness across the board? So, naturally since you're pretty right, you should be able to come up with a scan stating he's weak to red sun?
