Why did Keiji Inafune stop working on the Megaman Zero Series?

I know that Keiji is working on the Mighty No.9 series but The Megaman Zero series had potential. He should have done more work with it past the 4th installment. I now that there was Megaman ZX and Advent but he only existed as a supporting character in that series. I felt there could have been more work on the Zero series and should have gotten a 3D upgrade like the Megaman X series from X7 to Command Mission. What is your opinion on it?

From what i've read Capcom decided to discontinue the Mega Man franchise.

I wonder why it was such a powerful series. Maybe they kept going against Keiji's wishes. I've heard that from X6 to X8 and Command Mission that it Keiji wasn't involved in those 4.
