"Humans... They are not the cowering wretches we were promised. They stand. They are unruly, and therefore cannot be ruled. To challenge them is to court death."
and Thanos turns to reveal his face with a wicked grin. The line has more than one meaning: Thanos doesn’t just worship Death, he loves it. His main motivation is a literal and romantic love of Death, and everything he does is for this.
When Thanos “courts death” he isn’t risking his life — he’s proving his love. And to prove that love, he'll destroy all that is life in the Universe.
That line was a marvelous (no pun intended) bit of fan-service to people like me who recognized it for what it was. I could almost see Joss Whedon himself tipping his hat to me as he turned to leave the theatre. “That line, Supermex… that was for you.”
Damn!!

Can you tell me the last time they had their minds erased?
I don't remember anyone trying to erase their minds. So it could possibly work. Who knows. I was thinking more of making them go to sleep like Dr. X. Or making them see illusions so that they are sitting ducks attacking nothing.
