There are obviously many benefits of looking like the characters for cosplayers, which are become more famous because Anime fans only accept cosplayers who look like the Anime characters they love, getting jobs related to Anime, Manga, Cosplay, etc because Anime, Manga, etc companies only hire those who look like the characters of the promoted Anime, Manga, etc stuff, even if they are not hired by the company they easily can turn their fame into money by putting ads on their Cosplay videos, blogs, etc and other benefits. It is just like superstars, the more famous the better.

And Cosplay is not for fun.

We Asians create Cosplay which now have become as one of the world's trends are with the purpose of to impersonate or to be the characters the person which known as cosplayers want to Cosplay, that is why cosplayers not only trying to wear the same dress, costumes, accessories, etc as the characters they try to Cosplay but they also :
1. Trying to make their hair to look like the character's hair they want to Cosplay.
2. Trying to change their facial form, for example by using makeup to look like the character's facial form they want to Cosplay.
3. Mimicking the character's facial expressions, smiles, pose, etc they want to Cosplay.
4. Claiming as the characters they cosplaying.
5. The most concrete evidence is the existence of Cosplay competitions or Cosplay look-alike contest in every Anime conventions that not only held in our home Asia but also in other part of the world including in the western society where the psycho western cosplayers originated.

First of all the only reason why someone showing what he/she is doing in public is to let other peoples know what he/she is doing which mean his/her reason is for attentions. He/she want other peoples to say "you are awesome" , "you are better" or other things like that and the only way for other peoples to be able to say those things is by comparing him/her to anyone else who did including who will do the same thing as him/her, which mean the moment someone showing what he/she is doing in public is also the moment he/she is entering a competition against anyone else who did including who will do the same thing as him/her even if he/she is not doing it intentionally for competition or not admit doing it for competition.

Especially in the world of Cosplay because Cosplay is for imitating certain characters [ proven by cosplayers are trying to look, act and even claim as certain characters ] which mean 1 character could have thousands to millions of peoples which are known as cosplayers imitating the same character. This is also apply to someone who Cosplay in Anime convention even if he/she is not spreading what he/she is doing, that is because Anime convention is a public event especially when there are other cosplayers in that Anime convention who Cosplay the same character which make them as his/her competitor. There are exceptions for this which are for cosplayers who doing Cosplay as a job which are common in Asia especially in Japan, for example is the Itasha community in Japan who often hiring cosplayers to help adding charm to their cars when they are showing off or when entering a competition, Itasha community is a car modification community who modify their cars with Anime based theme especially Anime girls. Another exception is for cosplayers who Cosplay inside a party even when that party is a public event because party is for fun, but not when those cosplayers spread what they are doing outside of the party.

1.First of all none of them are models or peoples who got hired to promote something. If you have any evidence of them being models such as the agency who employ them then just show it to prove your accusation.
