Ares was my only connection to DC when he died I never read any DC comic again , for your information I must say that Ares is simply way out of wonder woman's league !!

How did he die?

No, that is 100% canon, from the main WW book.

That said, Ares did plan to die, and his spirit lived on. It's not like he was fighting against it.

He did kill Highfather, and it was noted that the modern era had strengthened him and Athena, who was able to take Zeus's place while he took Hades.

which book?

I don't remember the details clearly but I remember that wonder woman cut his head with an axe and it was ridiculous !!

The comic's not collected so I haven't personally read it. I think it involved some betrayal, probably caught him off guard.

Ares didn't catch Highfather off guard when he killed him. Though the whole plot did involve a betrayal from Ares. He also killed him while inside the source. I have the scans if you need them.

It's from Wonder Woman v3 #33.

Ares then appeared in issue #37 (although he was dead), and revealed that he still had a plan.

Axe to the head, as in the scan above.

His spirit lived on but he was dead.

Thanks.

No Ares didn't catch him off-guard - there wasn't a cheap shot or back stab or anything like that - but Ares DID have prep time and had 'channelled his energies;, for what its worth.

Yea, thanks. Even for Ares clearly at his best, a very impressive showing!
