Homophobic people are generally disliked because they choose to believe in something stupid and baseless like "gay people are bad", simply because they're small minded morons.

Homosexuals are hated because the above group is compiled exclusively of idiots who will hate/demonize people for something that they can't control and that has no effect on their lives.

1) Because they're assholes.
2) Because they're different.
