Who the hell thinks surfer is anywhere near Thanos level? There are specific stories regarding this and Thanos beats the shit out of surfer every damn time. There is NOT single hint whatsoever that surfer can beat Thanos in comics.

If you go back and check out the original Infinity Gauntlet saga, Starlin had Thanos and Surfer fighting on pretty even terms.

Of course Thanos has gone on to eclipse Surfer in power since then.

As much as I <3 Surfer, he's not winning.

Surfer is not beating Thanos anymore than he's beating Galactus. That is simply not in the relationship between the characters, and never will be. Thanos exists expressly to pimpslap the glistening bastard the way no one else can. *sigh*

Might as well rename him Surfer Slapper.

When they were on astral plane without powers? Because around that time Thanos' original body which was turned to stone and severally weakened curbstomped surfer and mindraped him.
