About time, I think. Not sure how much it will change, if anything, or what the reaction of governments such as China might be, but it's at least a step in the right direction for Google.

Your point is taken, but when this sort of thing happens in the USA or UK it causes national uproar and investigations (however half-hearted these investigations may be at times), while in China it's as natural as...pollution.

People cheapen the extent of Chinese surveillance when they compare it to the NSA phone hacking scandals.
