The Science Myth

I don't know why you're characterizing it as a "demand", but I sent you a private message a few moments ago with the link.

There was a movie, made in the fifties, I think (it was black and white), where starting one day, a voice came over all the radios on Earth (I'm pretty sure it wasn't just the US), a voice claiming to be that of God.

The voice spoke every day at the same time, iirc, but here's the thing: something always came up where you, the viewer, never actually heard the voice. There was always some reason, eg, people thought it was a hoax, so they turned their radios off.

Anyway, after days of more and more people hearing this voice, finally, when the whole world is ready to listen -- including you, the viewer; you will hear the voice -- nothing comes over the radios. No voice, no sound. Nothing.

It was then people realized today was the Sabbath.

Sound familiar at all? I remember as a child getting a "chill of wonder" at the end with that little twist. So far, I haven't been able to hit the right combo of key words to find anything about it online.

EDIT: Nix the above.

"The Next Voice You Hear"...

That sounds familiar. I may have seen that a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. 😛

Comparing the amount of writing I've sent you that you've not responded to, despite saying you would, and this weeks gone now, strikes me as the height of hypocrisy.

Smh. I try to respond to everything I can. But there's a difference between, say, a debate subsiding or remaining unresolved and deliberately removing a sentence from a quote that isn't convenient to your rebuttal. One is the product of shifting forum debate. The other is a direct choice to take only that which seems incriminating to me and helpful to you.

If you're this upset, though, and not just trying to shift blame for trying to change my point, point me to a debate I left hanging. I'm sure some exist, though none were intentionally malicious. I'll be happy to respond.

Sorry, you're right, demand is the wrong word. "Patronized me unfairly about..." would have been a more appropriate phrase.

I don't know how many people may have said this already, but it is science which allows you to type this stuff over the Internet. By the way, aside from why there's so much stuff science has right, I personally find it more interesting to have billions of years of awesome transformations rather than a boring fairy tale.

Well, religious people think it is God that allows for stuff to happen, so that's not a great argument.

God of the Gaps logic. No one really takes issue with the idea that scientific advancements allow for all modern technology.

Assuming that God exists for a second (I'm willing to entertain the possibility since I'm agnostic), that doesn't mean whatever you think God caused or is doing is actually God. Thin about extra dimensions which we completely don't understand and can't truly imagine. If there's 11, then God would have to exist at the 11th or above, which means we're multiple levels of understanding from God. In other words, even if God completely exists, we should figure current phonomenom are probably scientific, given how much we still don't know.

Please, there's 12, actually. God exist in all of them; all at the same time.

God created science so thank God for your internet porn.

Sure there could be 12 dimensions or more, and yeah God could be omnipresent in all them. Problem is since we don't understand a lot of science, what we think to be God is probably not really God. I honestly prefer that because saying God did it prevents you from finding a scientific explanation of course, and learning and discovering things is one of the most amazing things in life (at least to me, people are pretty close minded these days). I'm not saying God definately doesn't exist, I'm just questioning the logic of saying something has to be caused by God. What do you think is evidence? Because it could (note I said could) be science we don't understand yet. What is God anyway? Because everyone seems to have different definitions. How can we argue something when we don't even agree on what it is?

Hahaha, and extra dimensions as Internet porn? Well people like me do find the concept pretty satisfying! 🙂

edit wrong thread

In all fairness, we can prove one and cannot prove the other.

No, there are 12, cos 11 is one too few and 13 is one too many. So when you masturbate, God sees you from 12 different viewpoints all at the same time. Think about that the next time you fancy breaking off a wank.

What is God you ask? God = science we can't comprehend and likely never will. Saying "not God" because you don't understand something, is the faulty logic.

Hope that's all cleared up for you now.

God = dark knowledge.

Do you get offended by black holes? ...or dark matter ...or dark energy?

BTY God told me that he doesn't watch you masturbate. Even God is ashamed of somethings. 😛

The thing about science in the world today is the same issue that Ironman is dealing with. Ironman builds weapons and all our leaders take science and build bigger guns with it.

And then Ironman has to build even BIGGER weapons, it's a vicious cycle, that science.

Have you ever wondered what would happen in Ironman built smaller weapons?

I think people should stop fighting and start working together.

Yes. That is the thing about science.

You should write to your Congressman.
