Disagree. If anything they tied in ROTS and the dream sequence Sidious only had the upper hand due to circumstance with Anakin being there.
Sidious was the one trying to leave, acting frustrated, and having the "Oh, shit!" look on his face throughout the fight. It's fair to assess that Yoda is a superior swordsmen due to either A.Palpatine was disarmed or B.He felt he couldn't best Yoda in a duel so he switched tactics to using the Force.
Palpatine may have stronger offensive Force powers but Yoda can hang. He's showed that he can counter his lightning with considerable effort.
Yoda and Palpatine as of ROTS are roughly equals with Palpatine perhaps having slightly more power in the Force and Yoda being a pretty reasonably superior swordsmen.
Adding Mace who is the second strongest Force-wielding Jedi and arguably the greatest duelist of the PT, who has already defeated Palpatine in lightsaber combat in his own right would guarantee death for Palpatine.

Yeah, as I said, not entirely sure. Though it should be remembered that Sidious has fought two saber fights in a decade and nothing else, whereas Yoda presumably sparred often and fought actively in the clone wars. Sidious still retained his skill as a tier 9 duelist despite doing basically nothing to do with dueling for a decade.
